1 of 5 Lock products are coming from the locksmith industry in 2017.
Springfield Mo, a manufacturer of custom locks, announced Wednesday that it would open a new lock shop in San Bernardino, California, and build a 1,100-square-foot shop to make its product line up.
The first product, called the Locksmith Chula Vista, will be available in early 2018, said Mark Lueck, the company’s chief operating officer.
The Chula is an innovative product that allows customers to set up the lock with their name on the lock.
The Chula Vista, which was designed with lock enthusiasts in mind, will come with a $30 fee and will include a custom-made keychain that comes with the key.
The company has been working on a second Chula that will come in a black and white finish, Luecks said.
The company expects to hire up to 200 people to work at the San Bernardino store, which will be located on the third floor of a retail building at 1150 Mission Street.
The location is near the San Francisco Bay area’s Mission Bay.
