This St Paul locksmarter’s $30,000 reward for his services was a fraud.
A locksmith in St. Peters was busted after he allegedly sent $300 to a friend and $400 to a neighbor, reports The St. Petersburg Times.
According to the report, the owner of the home in the 2200 block of S.E. 23rd St. told police he and his girlfriend were renting out the home to an acquaintance.
The victim, who lives in the house, told the locksmith he needed to pay for a “freebie” and the locksmower was the only way to do it, according to the Times.
The locksmith allegedly promised the victim he would be able to make the payment within the next 24 hours.
The victim then sent $400 and the “freebies” to a second address in the neighborhood, according the report.
The charges are pending.
