A locksmith who worked at a New York City apartment complex was killed when he opened fire in a dispute with another locksmith on Friday night, police said.
Police said two locksmith members, identified by the police department as L.J. and R.J., were at the apartment complex in the Bronx when an argument broke out.
Police said L.K. and D.J.-H.
had been arguing about a man who lives in the apartment and would not leave, the NYPD said in a statement.
After the argument, L.M. opened fire, hitting both locksmith and one of the other locksmith’s relatives.
The other locksman, identified as J.R., returned fire and hit L.L. before fleeing the scene, the police said in the statement.
“The other locksmoughs who were with L. L. was hit by gunfire,” the police statement said.
“He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.”
The NYPD said that the officers involved in the shooting were not injured.
The officers involved were on duty at the complex when the shooting happened, and they have been placed on paid administrative leave.
The New York Police Department and the NYPD’s Crime Prevention Bureau are investigating the incident, the Police Department said.
